Woman gets life term for murder

RAJOURI, Feb 24:  Principal Sessions Judge Rajouri, Shahzad Azeem held accused Zahroom Kouser, wife of Abdul Majid, hailing from Sangpur in Nowshera guilty, for the commission of  offence under Section 302 (murder), 436/201 RPC  and convicted and sentenced her to undergo simple imprisonment for life and imposed fine of Rs 5000 on her.
While holding the accused guilty, the court held that there is complete chain of events making it loud and clear that in all human probabilities, the crime was committed by the accused and none else. All the circumstances proved by the prosecution are consistent with the guilt of the accused  and inconsistent with her innocence. The court further held the accused proved to be  securely liable for commission of murder of the deceased, disappearance of evidence of offence by dismembering the dead body of the deceased  and causing mischief  by fire.
Prosecution story revealed that  deceased Zumard Begum was married to Abdul Majid about 27 years ago and has  three daughters. In order to fulfil urge for a male child, Abdul Majid with the consent of his wife, solemnized second marriage with the accused 4-5 years ago. For 2-3 months after marriage,  the relations between first and second wife remained cordial. But relations turned strained between both when Abdul Majid got accused checked up from a doctor who opined that she can not become mother. The first wife was again pregnant by 2 and half months. Abdul Majid a labourer by profession left for Shari Amarnath yatra work to Baltal  in Kashmir and during intervening night of July 13/14, 2011, when deceased was fast asleep, the accused picked up an axe and thrice attacked on the neck of first wife of Abdul Majid. Then she burnt the body to destroy the evidence. With this the house was also burnt along with other things.   Public Prosecutor, Rajouri  Mukhtar Mirza contested the case.
