Intrusion bid foiled on IB, arms seized in Poonch

JAMMU, Feb 26: BSF troops today foiled an infiltration bid along the International Border (IB) in Ramgarh sector of Samba district.
BSF troops at a border out post observed some movement along IB in Ramgarh sector around 0500 hours today, sources said.
They fired several rounds and illumination flares, they said adding that the suspected militants were forced back and the infiltration bid was foiled.
“Troops are on alert to foil any bid,” sources said.
On February 23, the BSF and Pakistan Rangers held a flag meeting along the IB here during which the border guards of the two countries expressed their commitment to maintain peace and tranquility.
Pakistan again violated ceasefire, albeit for a very brief period, in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district but there were no losses. The Indian side retaliated.
Meanwhile, in two separate joint search operations, joint teams of Army and police recovered a major cache of weapons, ammunition and other war like stores in Hari Budha and Bhatidhar forests in Poonch district today.
Acting on a specific input on likely dump of arms, a joint search operation by Rashtriya Rifles and police was launched in the two forests.
During the search operation, two pistols, grenades of various types including Rocket Propelled grenades and UBGL grenades, communication equipment, GPS, IEDs/ explosives, ammunition of AK 47 and other war like stores were recovered.
Currency worth Rs 50,000 was also found at the site of recovery.
This successful operation has foiled the nefarious designs of militants, sources said.
