CII session focuses on “Ease of Doing Business”

JAMMU, Feb 27: CII J&K State Council today organized its annual session on “Ease of Doing Business” in J&K here today.
The deliberations commenced with ideas for bringing business-friendly environment in the State.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, CP Ganga who was chief guest  complimented CII for its continuous efforts and insights in improving the industrial environment in the State through policy advocacy. He mentioned that J&K has made vigorous efforts to implement reforms and streamline processes in order to make the State investor friendly.
He talked about the need for the engagement and cooperation of industrialist in eradicating menace of corruption from the system. He also responded to the queries regarding infrastructure in industrial estates and assured to establish well equipped system in J&K for the industries.
Unravelling the boundless investment opportunities in J&K, former chairman of the CII Rahul Sahai said the State has rich reserves of water, agro, forests, herbal and mineral resources that provide immense potential to increase the base of Industrial Sector which will give stimulus to the economy of the State. He also mentioned that with the growing number of small and medium enterprises in the region, `Ease of Doing Business’ plays a crucial role in the region’s economic growth. He opined when system, rules and regulations are business-friendly, setting up businesses is made easier for not just big companies but also smaller ones that have less capital and resources at their disposal.
Addressing the gathering Sachit Jain, Deputy Chairman, CII Northern Region said that the improvement in industrialization sector is bound to provide opening for employment of the youth in the State.  He applauded the joint efforts taken up by the Govt and the other stakeholders to improve industrial culture and atmosphere in the State so that bright opportunities of employment are available.
“In this era of competitive federalism, the topic of the Annual Session on `Ease of Doing Business’ is very relevant and interesting.  Over the last 3 years states across India have made vigorous efforts to implement reforms and streamline processes in order to make their states investor friendly. J&K is not an exception. Though state ranking on ease of doing business was quite dismal in 2016, the  CII compliment the government for the commendable progress that J&K has made in the last few months,”   Saddam Zaroo, Chairman CII J&K State Council said.
The Session was well attended by people from Industry, Government Departments, Academics, and Start- Up companies and media persons of J&K.
Meanwhile, CII J&K State Council  during this session today elected Saddam Zaroo as  new Chairman of CII J&K State Council for the year 2018-19.  Zaroo a noted businessman in Hotel Industry, is also the member of Government of Jammu and Kashmir Handicraft Quality Control Council and also on  Board of Governor in SKICC.
