Amarnath yatris’ registration begins

JAMMU, Mar 2: The registration for holy Amarnath yatra started in 440 bank branches all over the country today.
According to official sources, the services of three banks including Punjab National Bank, (PNB), J&K Bank and Yes Bank have been utilized for the registration of the pilgrims for the two month long yatra starting on June 28.
Bhupinder Kumar, Additional CEO, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) said that the response of the pilgrims for registration was good. He said registration of pilgrims started simultaneously in all the States as well Union Territories across the country today.
He said in Jammu there are about 10 to 12 branches for registration at various places. Besides various branches have also been opened in Srinagar in Kashmir Valley while one branch has been opened at Leh in Ladakh district for the pilgrims intending to have the yatra of holy shrine this year, he added.
There were a good number of people at PNB branch Rehari and other branches of PNB and JK Bank for registration today.
Kumar said the total figure of the yatris registered on all the 440 branches has not been compiled as yet and it will only be available tomorrow.
