JAMMU, Mar 3: In a review meeting chaired by Governor N.N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, involving Dr. S.S. Bleoria, Member Shrine Board and Chairman Governing Body of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, B.B. Vyas, Member Shrine Board and Chairman, Finance and Audit Committee of the Hospital, and Dr. (Brig) M.M. Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer of the Hospital, it was revealed that the hospital had treated over 2.05 lakh Indoor and Outdoor patients during the 22 months of operation since its establishment in April 2016.
This 230-bed tertiary care hospital performed 105 heart surgeries, 400 angioplasties, installed 150 pacemakers and replaced 105 joints during the said period. Further, 2740 cancer patients received treatment, GI surgery was performed in 830 cases, 640 patients suffering from various urological ailments were provided treatment and dialysis was performed in 9500 cases.
Subsidised and free treatment valuing Rs. 36.76 crore was provided at the hospital during this period to various categories of patients.This includes provision of Rs. 9.83 crore discount by the hospital for major cardiac and joint replacement surgeries, free cancer screening, free OPD, discounts on the sale of various life saving and other medicines, promotion of awareness programmes etc.
On the directions of Chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Governor N.N. Vohra, free Outdoor and Indoor medical treatment valuing Rs. 4.47 crore has been provided to 12593 beneficiaries at the hospital.
Giving details, Dr. (Brig) Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer of the hospital, informed that of the total member of beneficiaries, 274 pilgrims received free treatment at a cost of Rs. 1.13 crore and financial assistance of Rs. 0.95 crore has been provided to 135 poor and needy patients under the Shrine Board’s Arogya Yojna.
He further informed that the erstwhile land owners of the four nearby villages of Sira, Kakryal, Kotla and Sool, who parted with their lands for the establishment of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and Hospital, have been provided free OPD and IPD treatment through an Insurance Policy procured by the Shrine Board at the cost of Rs. 3.36 lakh.
The Superspeciality Hospital has hi-end medical equipment including Linear Accelerator, Brachy Therapy, Gama Camera, MRI, 128 Slice CT Scan and Flat Panel Cath Lab which help in quick and accurate diagnosis of various ailments.
The advanced PET CT Scan facility for early detection of cancer will be functional in this hospital very shortly. This facility is presently not available in the Jammu region.
