JAMMU, Dec 3: Demanding registration of criminal case against concerned R&B officials, former Minister and Chairman National Panthers Party Harshdev Singh (MLA) has alleged that Dudu bus accident victims were shabbily treated   by the Administration.
While lambasting the District Administration for its failure to provide proper medical aid, ex-gratia and other facilities, the NPP legislator strongly condemned the highly outrageous and obnoxious conduct of State Government in dealing with the victims of bus accident that took place  in Dudu area on November 24 in which 20 persons were killed  and more than 60 injured. He alleged that no follow up action whatsoever, has been taken by the Administration and no responsibility fixed. No ex-gratia paid and no care being taken of injured or the dependants of the deceased.
Inspite of providing support and free medical facilities, the injured and even the family members were harassed and huge amount was extorted from them in the name of providing medical treatment. The MLA said despite announcement of the Governor and the Chief Minister to provide free medical aid, the dependents/ family members of deceased Joginder Pal were forced to pay Rs 33,014 as charges for treatment in just two days at Military Hospital Udhampur. The hospital authorities even refused to hand over the body on the plea of non-payment of charges. Pawadish Kumar was forced to pay Rs 7126 at the same hospital. One Chain Singh was made to Pay Rs 3400 and Raj Kumar Rs 2737 and so on. One Randhish Singh who was referred to GMC Jammu was asked to arrange Rs 50,000 for the operation. Showing copies of medical bills, the MLA strongly condemned the State administration for its bias attitude towards Jammu region and said that on certain occasions, the CM himself announced ex-gratia for victims during such mishaps in Kashmir.
Criticising R&B authorities for the poor maintenance of Chenani-Dudu-Basantgarh-Ramnagar road, the MLA further demanded that criminal cases be registered against the concerned officials. He said these officials are responsible for the death of 20 persons. The MLA pointed out that Rs 25 crore had been sanctioned for upgradation of  Ramnagar-Dudu road  during last two years but it remained in papers only and nothing was visible on the ground. He sought immediate intervention of State Governor N N Vohra and the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah into the matter.
