Identify land for Nursing College buildings at Jammu, Kishtwar: Veeri to BGSBU

Minister reviews status of acquisition process of Wakaf land

JAMMU: Minister for Revenue, Haj & Auqaf and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today asked for immediate identification of land for construction of Nursing Colleges at Jammu and Kishtwar setting a deadline of a week’s time for submission of a proposal regarding transfer of land in this regard.

The Minister said this while addressing the officers during a meeting convened to review the issues pertaining to Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Shahid Inaytullah, Vice Chancellor BGSBU Prof JavedMussarat, DC Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, CEO Wakaf Council, Registrar BGSBU, ACR Jammu, representative of NHAI Jammu and other concerned senio officers.

It was informed in the meeting that Nursing College in Rajouri is being run on University Campus but the Colleges at Jammu and Kishtwar requires its own building for which 8 kanal of land needs to be transferred to BGSBU Rajouri.

Taking serious note of delay in land identification process, the Minister directed DC Jammu, ACR Jammu, Administrator Auqaf and Registrar BGSBU to visit the already identified sites and finalize the land for further process. He asked BGSBU authorities to submit the proposal regarding land transfer after finalization process to his office within weeks-time so that land can be provided for construction of college buildings at Jammu and Kishtwar.

It was informed that to fulfill the mandatory requirement of Indian Nursing Council (INC) regarding establishment of Nursing College in its own exclusive building, land must be transferred for construction of college building, which is also necessary to avoid penalty and de-recognition of Nursing Degree by INC.

“Land identification process for Nursing College building at Jammu & Kishtwar should be completed immediately so that both the colleges will have its own buildings to accommodate good number of students and meet the criteria fixed by the Indian Nursing Council (INC)”, the Minister said.

Besides, the meeting also discussed issues raised by VC BGSBU pertaining to the University including release of pending grant by Auqaf, urgent need for additional building space at Jammu & Kishtwar Nursing College and financial support to be provided by Wakaf Council to meet various expenses.

During the meeting, the Minister also reviewed the status of acquisition of Wakaf Land at Kunjwani in Jammu in light of Court directions and payment of compensation. The issue of unsealing of shopping Complex at Kunjwani was also discussed in detail.

Regarding compensation of land being acquired by NHAI at Kunjwani, representative of NHAI assured the meeting that issue will be taken up with NHAI authorities at New Delhi and will be resolved within two weeks’ time.

While discussing the status of unsealing of Shopping Complex at Kunjwani, the Minister was informed about the action taken by DC Jammu.

Veeri asked the concerned to closely follow the case in the Hon’ble Court and if possible provide the details to the Advocate General so that case can be taken to the logical conclusion.

Besides, the Minister also asked the concerned to follow the cases where Wakaf land has been acquired by the government department/agencies but the compensation against the acquisition has not been provided till the date. He also asked the DC Jammu to look into this kind of cases and to clear all pending compensation payments to Auqaf department for carrying out developmental activities.
