JAMMU, Mar 6: Mid Day Meals and All J&K Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) held strong protest demonstration here today.
A large number of  these workers  from Education Department led by State vice president,  Manjit Singh Chib assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club during the day here and started protest demonstration. They were carrying banner  and placards depicting their demands.
A large number of women workers cooking Mid Day meals in various Government schools also joined the protest. They were shouting slogans against the higher authorities in the School  Education department and also in support of their demands.

Several senior members of the Association also addressed the gathering and urged upon the Education Minister, Altaf Bukhari to address the pending demands of the MDM Union and  CPWs  Association. They said these workers were engaged  as watermen/ water-women/ chowkidars through Village Education Committee (VECs)  and performing duty in Govt schools for the last 15 to 20 years. They are paid just Rs 25 per month which is a cruel  joke with them. They are struggling since long but Directors  and CEOs concerned have failed to take a decision about their wages. Even the minimum wages has been hiked to Rs 350 per day from Rs 225 but they are still get Rs 25 per month.
They said though concerned minister and MoS are seeking information from the CEOs/ ZEOs about them but they are not no accepting the files in Jammu region. They sought intervention of Minister for Education Altaf Bukhari.
