JAMMU, Mar 6: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Vinod Chatterji Koul today awarded 15 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs one lakh to Mohd Yousaf Ganie, son of Ghulam Hassan Ganie of Anantnag from whose possession over six kilograms of charas was recovered by Narcotics Control Bureau on January 31, 2014.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “use of narcotics by youth is increasing day by day. This increase is because the narcotics are easily available. The youth who get addicted of narcotics spoils not only his own life but of his family also”.
“For spoiling the life career of such youth, it is the persons, who supply such narcotics and sell the same to the youth and if the persons, who are responsible for supplying and thereby spoiling the youth, are not dealt with strictly that will encourage such people in dealing with the supply of such narcotics”, court said.
Accordingly, court awarded 15 years RI to the charas smuggler and imposed fine of Rs one lakh for the offence under Section 8/20 NDPS Act.
