SRINAGAR, Mar 8: The Valley-based contractors who are on boycott from last ten days over pending of dues have threatened to intensify their protest and raise black flags on the construction works.
A JKCCCC spokesman in a statement said the contractors on Feb 27 went for boycott of ongoing construction works against pending Rs 750 crore from the Government and if Government continued to turn a blind eye towards the problem and fail to clear the bills, they will raise black flags on the construction works and launch 24-hour hunger strike from March 10.
“We don’t believe in boycott politics, but we have no other option. We are registering our protest to make our voice sound to officials,” General Secretary JKCCCC, Farooq Ahmad Dar said in the statement.
He criticized the Government for waging a war against the Valley based contractors whose condition could not have turned worse than the way they were made to crave for a single penny.
Besides, he said, “they are not against online system of Government Treasuries, but the present situation in Kashmir is not favorable for online system.”
Farooq accused Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu for deliberately creating the financial crunch to keep Government of India in good humor’.
