JKWS organises awareness campaign on legal rights

SAMBA, Dec 4: Jammu and Kashmir Women Society (JKWS), a branch of All India Women’s Conference, today organise a awareness campaign on legal rights at village Kamala, here.
The campaign was organised in collaboration with State Rehabilitation Council, J&K, sponsored by National Commission for Women, in which about 150 women from different localities participated.
Executive Director, State Rehabilitation Council, Haffiza Muzzafer, was the chief guest, Prof Sarla Kohli, the guest of honour and Ranjana Tickoo, under secretary, legal aids, presided over the function.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest elaborated many legal points regarding current issues, new provisions and laws introduced by the State Government.
In her speech, Tickoo awared the gathering of free legal aid provision in High Court for those who do not afford to pay the expenses.
Earlier, Nirmal Padha, president, JKWS, in her welcome address said that every member of society is disturbed by the escalating incidents of violence against women, so it is important that every individual of the society must be aware about his/her legal rights.
Councellor, Family Counselling Centre, Shaila Iram, discussed the type of cases regarding family disputes registered in Family Counselling Centre, which is working free of cost for the cause of the people.
