JAMMU, Mar 9: Just a day after Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti assured a delegation of BJP Ministers that a high-level Committee would be set up to examine the demands pouring in from several areas for creation of the posts of Additional Deputy Commissioners and posting of two Additional DCs-one each for Nowshera-Sunderbani and Koteranka-Kalakote, the General Administration Department (GAD), headed by the CM, issued orders to this effect today.
The constitution of high-powered committee was announced by the GAD, which also ordered posting of senior KAS officer, Sachin Dev Singh as first Additional Deputy Commissioner of Nowshera-Sunderbani.
An order issued today by the GAD said the Finance Commissioner Revenue, Lokesh Dutt Jha will be chairman of the Committee which will examine demands related to posting of Additional Deputy Commissioners.
The members of the Committee included Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, Revenue Department, Shahid Inayatullah, Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, General Administration Department (GAD), Khurshid Ahmed and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Hemant Sharma.
“No time frame has been fixed for the Committee,” the official order said.
After agitation in Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote for the posting of Additional Deputy Commissioners, similar demands for postings had started pouring in from various tehsils with political leaders and organizations seeking posting of the Additional DCs in their tehsils to solve revenue related problems of the people at tehsil headquarters.
“The State Government could create some new posts of Additional Deputy Commissioners on the basis of recommendations made by the high-powered committee,” sources said.
The General Administration Department today also ordered the posting of Sachin Dev Singh, Additional Secretary to the Government, Labour and Employment Department, as first Additional Deputy Commissioner of Nowshera-Sunderbani. Sachin Dev Singh is a native of Rajouri district.
“The officer (Sachin Dev Singh) shall discharge his duties depending upon the convenience of the general public in a manner that he will be headquartered for one week at Nowshera and followed by another week at Sunderbani,” the GAD order said.
At the same time, as per the GAD order, Kartar Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sunderbani and Abdul Sattar, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nowshera, will continue at their respective places of postings.
The order said Shafiq Ahmad, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Koteranka, will now operate as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Koteranka-Kalakote. He will be headquartered for one week at Koteranka followed by another week at Kalakote.
Yesterday, all Ministers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and sought solution to the demand for posting of Additional Deputy Commissioners in Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote after creation of the similar post in Koteranka.
It was decided in the meeting that two Additional DCs will be sanctioned-one each for Nowshera-Sunderbani and another for Koteranka-Kalakote with rotational posting of one week.
The meeting had also decided setting up of a high-powered committee comprising top Government officers to examine the demand for creation of more posts of Additional Deputy Commissioners, which had started pouring in from various areas.
