JAMMU, Mar 12: A group of 88 farmers from different districts of Jammu Division was flagged of by Director, Agriculture, Jammu, HK Razdan, for an exposure visit outside the State from the directorate of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, Jammu.
The seven-day exposure visit has been organized by the Farmers Training Centre, Jammu under Sub-Mission on Agriculture Extension (SMAE) of Centrally Sponsored Scheme: National Mission for Agriculture Extension Technology (NMAET-ATMA).
HK Razdan, while interacting with the farmers on the occasion, said that the visit has been organized for acquainting the farmers with modern techniques for Commercial Agriculture, emerging trends in organic farming and cultivation of different agricultural crops on scientific lines.
He impressed upon the farmers to interact with the farm scientists, experts and extension functionaries to get up to date methodology in cultivation of crops on scientific lines. He asked the farmers to enhance their technical skills in the field of Integrated Farming and to adopt the advanced technology for cultivation of cereal food crops, vegetables, Mushrooms and other agricultural crops after learning from such trainings/exposure visit.
Giving details of the seven-day programme, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Trainings), Jammu, Sunil Koul, said that the group of 88 farmers from Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and other districts will visit Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Oil Seeds Research Station at Kangra and Agriculture Museum of CSK HP Krishi Vishvavidyalaya Palampur, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amritsar, All India Pingalwara Charitable Society Pingalwara, Centre For Excellence in Vegetable Kartarpur, KVK Jullander and Central Potato Research Station, Badshahpur, Ludhiana.
Farmers will also visit and see the advanced agricultural technology at Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. Joint Director, Agriculture (SLUB), Bulesh Zutshi, Joint Director, Agriculture (Inputs), KS Sambyal, Joint Director, Agriculture (Extension), RL Bhagat, Joint Director of Agriculture, Deepak Kuchroo, Deputy Director, Agriculture (Central), CM Sharma and other senior officers of the Department were also present on the occasion.
