BHADERWAH, Mar 13: After completion of District level tournaments of Chenab Valley, the final leg of the Range level Sports Festival, organized by DKR (Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban) Range under Civic Action Programme of Jammu and Kashmir Police concluded here today.
The winning teams of District level tournament of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban today gathered at Sports Stadium of GDC Bhaderwah to participate in the Range level tournament for the coveted trophy.
The Sports Festival in which district champion teams in Football, Throw Ball, Shot Put and Discus competed, was declared open by ASP Bhaderwah Rajinder Singh in presence of SDPO Bhadarwah Brijesh Sharma and SHO Muneer Khan.
In the girls100 metre race, District Doda champion Zahida Amin became the fastest girl of Chenab Valley and won gold by defeating the champions of Kishtwar and Ramban districts. However in Shot Put, Navreen from Kishtwar clinched the gold by defeating her nearest rival Zahida Amin from Doda.
In the most anticipated event of the Festival, Kishtwar Club defeated GR Azad Football Club of Bhaderwah, who was representing District Doda in a one sided match with a margin of 4-0 and grabbed the opportunity to represent DKR range at state level.
During the closing ceremony, in which trophies and medals were distributed among the winners and runners-up teams/players simultaneously, SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir Khatana was the chief guest, while GDC Bhaderwah Prof SS Bhalwal, 2IC 4RR and Deputy Commandant CRPF 33 Bn Neelam were the guests of honour.
SSP Doda spoke on the occasion and threw light on the importance of games and sports.
The proceedings of the closing ceremony was conducted by educationist, Arif Rana while RR based at Bhaderwah and CRPF 33 Bn provided logistic and technical support during the Festival.
Prominent among those who were present during the closing ceremony were CEO BDA RP Khajuria, 2IC RR Bhadarwah, ASP Rajinder Singh, SDPO Brijesh Sharma, Deputy Commandant CRPF 33 Bn Neelam Kaninwal, Assistant Commandant Joseph Harimie, PEM Aftab Ahmed and PEM Mujahid Hussain.
