Maiden Convocation of Central University Jammu on Mar 18

JAMMU, Mar 14: The maiden Convocation of Central University of Jammu is going to be held on March 18 wherein Degrees and Medals shall be awarded to the successful candidates in the presence of Nobel Laureate Dalai Lama and Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh.
During the Convocation, to be held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium of Jammu University, Honoris Causa degrees shall also be conferred upon Dr Jitendra Singh and former Chief of Army Staff Gen N C Vij.
Besides two special Medals of J&K Bank, one each for male and female, total 43 Gold Medals shall be awarded to the toppers in different subjects. Fourteen Ph D, 20 M Phil and 885 PG Degrees shall be awarded during the convocation.
However, only the toppers, Ph D and M Phil awardees shall be invited on the dais for receiving the Medals and Degrees from chief guest Dalai Lama, guest of honour Dr Jitendra Singh, Chancellor of the Central University and Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Aima.
Pertinent to mention that appointment of the new Chancellor of the Central University Jammu is being finalized by the Human Resource Development Ministry and formal notification announcing the new Chancellor is likely to be issued by tomorrow. Earlier, Governor N N Vohra was the Chancellor of CUJ in his individual capacity.
The Convocation function is scheduled to begin at 9.30 a.m. on March 18. The Academic Procession shall enter the Convocation Hall at 9.55 a.m and with the permission of the Chancellor, Registrar CUJ, Dr Ravi Kumar will declare the Convocation open at 10 a.m.
This will the first Convocation of Central University of Jammu, which was recently accorded B++ grading.
