NEW DELHI, Mar 14: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today presented “Certificates of Excellence in e-Governance” to 34 such Ministries / Departments in Government of India, which had achieved more than 80% switch-over to e-Governance.
The Awards instituted by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (ARPG), Ministry of Personnel, were received by some of the senior-most Union Secretaries working in Government of India, who included D.S. Mishra, Union Secretary in Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Gopal Krishna, Union Secretary in Ministry of Shipping, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Secretary in Ministry of Power, Anand Kumar, Union Secretary in Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Anant Kumar Singh, Union Secretary in Ministry of Textiles, S.N. Tripathi, Union Secretary in Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Chhabilendra Raul, Union Special Secretary in Department of Agricultural Research & Education.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh congratulated the Ministries / Departments and their officers for winning the awards in e-Governance and appreciated the enthusiasm and speed with which they had accomplished these targets. He said, Department of ARPG has taken award for itself for the task of motivating these Ministries for switching-over to e-Governance and from that point of view the Ministries / Departments which won awards today had actually helped the Department of ARPG to carry forward its work in mission mode.
Dr Jitendra Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been taking keen personal interest in monitoring the process of digitization in different walks of life, particularly in governance. This is in keeping with the concept of ‘ease of governance’ and ‘ease of living’, with increased participation of the citizens.
Dr Jitendra Singh called upon the various State Governments also to take the cue from the Central Government and switch over to e-Governance as soon as possible and to the maximum extent. He said, the Department of ARPG has started the process of holding regional conferences in different parts of the country, and one of the objectives behind this exercise is to sensitize the respective State Governments about the benefits and merits of e-Governance.
On the occasion, Union Secretary ARPG K.V. Eapen gave a brief resume ofthe various targets achieved in conversion to e-file and e-governance.
