Two cops held with heroin

JAMMU, Mar 14: Two cops of J&K police along with 100 gram of heroin were arrested today by Gangyal police.
“During a routine naka checking at opposite City Farm, Gangyal NHW, two pedestrians coming from Narwal towards Kunjwani were asked to stop but they tried to flee from the spot. However, the alert cops overpowered both the pedestrians”, a police official said.
He said during personal search of the men, who were identified as Ishfaq Ahmed son of Mohd yousuf, resident of Ward No 4, Rajouri, posted as follower in District Police, Rajouri, and Senior Grade Constable Nissar Ahmed, son of Mohd Aslam, resident of Balakote, posted in District Police, Reasi as PSO of DFO Reasi, about 55 gram and 45 gram of heroin (Chitta) like substance were recovered from their possession, respectively.
“On questioning the accused disclosed that they had brought the consignment from Srinagar and selling drugs among the youth in and around Jammu city”, the official said, adding, in this connection, a case FIR No 23/2018 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Gangyal and more recoveries are expected as there is every possibility of involvement of more persons.
The arrest was made by Sub Inspector Nayat Ali, SHO, police station Gangyal, under the close supervision of SDPO City South, Jammu, Mohd Rafiq Manhas and SP South, Sandeep Choudhary.
