Robust demand lifts cardamom futures by 2.32%

NEW DELHI, Mar 15: Cardamom prices rose by 2.32 per cent to Rs 1,097 per kg in futures trade today as traders built up fresh positions amid uptick in domestic as well as export demand in the spot market.
Besides, tight stock position on fall in arrivals from major producing regions fuelled the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April month shot up by Rs 24.90, or 2.32 per cent, to Rs 1,097 per kg in a business turnover of 49 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in May contracts traded higher by Rs 23.50, or 2.14 per cent, to Rs 1,118 per kg in 7 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants on the back of robust domestic as well as export demand in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing belts led to the rise in cardamom prices in futures trade. (PTI)
