JAMMU, Mar 15: Rakesh Wazir, president Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra has suggested that Jagti is the best suitable site for proposed Jammu Airport.
While speaking in a programme held in connection with celebrations of Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj at Jandyal Barnali (Agoor), Wazir said that when the proposed Jammu Airport is coming up it becomes very important to have its location right and Jagti Nagrota on Highway mere few kilometers from Jammu is best suitable site for that keeping in view the fact that it is at a location which will become the center point with the coming up of the new ring road and the opening of the old traditional route of Vaishnodevi.
Further, he added, keeping the fact in mind that 70 percent of the Air passengers are Vaishnodevi pilgrims and this place being enroute Katra is easily accessible while coming or going to Katra and even otherwise this place is most convenient for places like Kishtwar, Doda, Bhaderwah, Ramban, Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi etc and also in the close vicinity of Jammu thus should be constructed over there.
Contributing the people of Agoor, where the programme was being held, Wazir said that with the completion of the missing link on the old traditional route of Vaishnodevi, work on which is going on in full swing below Deva Mai near Bamyal, connecting Katra with Jagti Highway on one hand and Akhnoor, Agoor, Poonch Rajouri on the other hand, this area will come in lime light and hub of tourist business activity. All pilgrim/tourist places like Mathwar, Jio Potta, Ambaran, Showa Mata, Oli Mata, Deva Mai will get major boost and Agoor/Akhnoor being in between will get major boost, he added.
Wazir said that time has come when real teachings of Guru Ravi Dass be implemented in real letter and spirit for bridging gap among the societies.
Prominent among others, who were present on the occasion, included Baba Chanchal Singh (president of the Sabha) Krishan Lal, Romesh Lal, Jalla Ram, Machi Ram, Capt Sham Lal, Master Ashok Kumar, Babi Ram, Kartar Chand, Balkrishan, Rattan Lal, Ravi Kumar and Sarban Dass.
