JAMMU, Mar 20: First Lady Usha Vohra chaired the Annual General Body Meeting of Association for Social Health in India (ASHI), J&K Branch, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
The General Body held extensive discussions to identify new projects and activities which will be undertaken by ASHI during 2018-19.
She presented certificates and multi utility kits to the girls who have completed their basic computer course with the help of ASHI.
During the course of discussions members of ASHI apprised Usha Vohra about the various welfare activities being carried out for women empowerment, vocational education and providing help to the disadvantaged sections of society. The meeting was informed about ASHI’s ongoing welfare programmes in the recently adopted panchayats of Chibba, Nadore and Marh.
Usha Vohra lauded the devotion and hardwork with which members of ASHI are striving for ameliorating the lot of disadvantaged sections of the society. She urged to focus sharply on the empowerment of women and girl children by providing them opportunities for skill development.
On behalf of the Governor, Usha Vohra presented a cheque of Rs.15.85 lakh as financial assistance for the continuing programmes of social uplift which are being carried out by ASHI.
Sushma Choudhary, Vice-President ASHI; Prof. Kailash Rajput, Secretary; Seema Khajooria Shekhar, Additional Secretary, Nasreen Khan, Joint Secretary, and Prof. Ved Ghai were among the members of ASHI who were present in the meeting. In all 48 persons attended today’s meeting.
