JAMMU, Mar 21: A one-week “International Workshop on Soft Materials and Devices”, organized by Department of Nanoscience and Materials, CUJ, was inaugurated here today by Vice Chancellor, Prof Ashok Aima.
The main aim of this workshop is to create awareness amongst the researchers about concurrent topics of research on soft materials and devices. About 40 participants from different region of the State have been registered for the International workshop.
In his presidential remark, Prof Ashok Aima talked about the great efforts put into establishment of Science Departments. He praised the science faculty for their achievements during short time of 18 months.
Dr Anil K Thakur, Convener workshop, informed about the motive, objectives and vision behind the workshop.
Chairperson of the workshop, Prof S K Khosa talked in detail for the need to pursue research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology to remain competitive in the world in this field.
Prof Devanand, Dean Applied and Basic Sciences, dealt about the advantages of pursuing research in Nanotechnology. Prof Lokesh K Verma, Academic Co-ordinator also spoke on the occasion.
After the inaugural function, first lecture of the workshop was delivered by Dr A M Biradar, NPL New Delhi on “Dielectric Spectroscopy: A Powerful Technique of the Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Materials”. Subsequently, a talk on “Chiral Molecules to Chiral System” and “Nanostructure Characterization” was delivered by Dr V Raman Doddi, and Dharmesh Gala, Head MC Division Antron Park, India respectively. The workshop will continue upto 25th March 2018.
