JAMMU, Mar 21: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Ravinder Kumar today said that a committee of senior officers has been constituted to demarcate and retrieve the land encroached along the banks of River Devika.
“The demarcation work and acquisition of land for treatment plants to be constructed under Devika Rejuvenation Project are under progress on war footing and will be completed within next one month”, he said in a statement, adding “the observations made by Alternate Hydro Energy Centre of IIT Roorkee will be rectified within a week’s time”.
Meanwhile, ALPS Engineers, consultant for Devika Rejuvenation Project, said that LOI was issued to them on August 24, 2017 and the draft DPR was submitted to UEED on November 22, 2017 which included carrying out survey of entire Udhampur town, various investigations, designing, drawings and preparing estimates.
The UEED vide communication dated December 5, 2017 desired few changes and accordingly revised DPR was submitted to UEED on December 15, 2017 and was further sent to Ministry of Environment and Forests, which asked for deletion of few items from the DPR.
About independent appraisal by IIT Roorkee, ALPS Engineers said that all required details as desired by IIT Roorkee during the site visit on March 3, 2018 have been forwarded to them and clearance of DPR is expected anytime.
“The clearance of DPR from IIT Roorkee is on final stage and that too within six months from the award of the work to us”, said a spokesman of ALPS Engineers.
