POONCH, Mar 23: The people from Harni area today held protest against water scarcity and blocked Mendhar-Surankote road for about two hours.
The people including women gathered on the road at Harni at round 11 am and started protest dharna. They were shouting slogans against the PHE authorities. The villagers alleged that pumping station at Galuta, providing water supply to the area went out of order about 20 days back but the concerned PHE Mech staff failed to repair the same. They alleged that despite repeated requests to the PHE staff the water supply could not be restored.
Meanwhile, traffic on this road remained disrupted for about two hours. Later. SHO Gursai Sanjay Gupta and Naib Tehsildar Aftab Hussain reached the spot and they pacified the people. Then the people lifted dharna from the road.
