Hakla reiterates demand regarding inclusion of Gojri in 8th Schedule

POONCH, Mar 25: Shamsher Hakla Poonchi, a prominent Gujjar leader and an intellectual today made an appeal to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti urging her to approach the Government of India regarding inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India.
In a statement issued here today he said this would ensure the development and spread of Gojri language. Hakla further added that Gojri language is being spoken by a large number population of Gujjars and Bakerwals of Jammu and Kashmir State the number of which goes over 34 lakhs which in no way could be ignored.
He said the mother tongue of these people is Gojri, therefore, keeping in view the demand of such a huge number of population of Gujjar and Bakerwals of the State the inclusion of Gojri language in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution is most genuine and justified, he added.
