JMC Commissioner reviews sanitation scenario

JAMMU, Mar 27: Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Ramesh Kumar took a review of sanitation scenario of Jammu city.
He issued instructions to the concerned officer for taking steps for installation of composting machines in bulk generator establishments like hotels, banquet halls and fruit and vegetable markets which would help in minimizing the accumulation of waste. He added that compost so generated will also help the persons who associated with agriculture line.
Commissioner directed the concerned officer to utilize the men and machinery available with Corporation for maintaining proper sanitation conditions within the JMC limits. He added that some wards will be selected as model wards for ensuring better scientific cleaning and its disposal including transportation after proper segregation. He also directed the Health Officer to maintain proper attendance of sanitation staff so that there can be no laxity in providing proper sanitation to the inhabitants of the city.
He stated that special focus will be given to construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) in different wards of JMC under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) to get the areas falling within the jurisdiction of JMC Open Defecation Free (ODF).
Among others present were Rishpal Singh, Joint Commissioner (A), Neeraj Gupta, Chief Accounts Officer, Sunaina Sharma, Secretary, Vinakshi Koul, Assistant Commissioner (Rev), Kushal Chand, Joint Commissioner (Works), Dr Saleem Khan, Health Officer, Tariq Raina, AEE (Transport) and Amitabh Manhas, AEE (Mech).
