JAMMU, Mar 27: The health care services were badly affected today in Community Health Centre (CHC) RS Pura, after the staff of the hospital suspended work in protest of manhandling of a Nursing Orderly (NO) of the hospital by a group of people.
According to the reports, SHO Arnia, Deepak Pathania, early this morning reached CHC RS Pura with the dead body of a youth namely Iqbal Singh (20) son of Bhagwan Singh, resident of Sai Kalan (Pangali), who allegedly died yesterday due to consuming of some poisonous substance at his residence, and asked the doctor on duty to conduct postmortem immediately.
However, the doctor told the officer as well as family members of the deceased to wait for other doctors to come as he is handling the emergency services and cannot leave the same. In the meanwhile, family members and relatives of the deceased youth got agitated and one of them manhandled a NO of the hospital and even slapped him.
Thereafter, at about 9 AM, the postmortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the family. But later, at about 12 noon, the entire staff of the hospital went on strike against manhandling of their colleague in front of the SHO Arnia and suspended all type of work.
Later, at about 4 PM, senior officers of Civil and Police administration as well as Minister Sham Choudhary reached the spot and pacified the staff members of the hospital by assuring a probe into the matter. On their assurance, the staff of the hospital suspended their strike and resumes their routine work.
