Srinagar, Mar 28: A distraught family from old city’s Khanyar area in Srinagar appealed their son to shun militancy and return home.
A day after his picture went viral on social media holding an AK 47 rifle, the family of 18-year-old Faid Mushtaq Waza has appealed him to shun militancy and return home. He has purportedly joined Lashkar- e -Toiba outfit.
The family members today told reporters that they were shocked to see the gun-wielding picture of their son on social media and want him to return home. “He left for three days and was returning on Monday. He did not come back. This is the first time he lied to me.  I appeal him with folded hands to please come back. Your father is in the hospital. Have pity on your parents, “Mymoona, mother of Fahad said.
Bilquees,  aunt of Fahad, said that he was missing since last week. “He left his home last Friday telling his parents that he is going with Tableeghi Jammat. We called him on Saturday but his number was switched off. We were worried and filed a missing report. But we were shocked to see his gun-wielding picture on social networking sites on Monday,” she said, adding his father is undergoing treatment in SKIMS hospital and needs him.
Zahoor Ahmad, uncle of Fahad, said that something was bothering him as he was not taking interest in his studies.   “Something was brewing inside him. He was not even interested in studies. But, we did not know that he would take such an extreme step and left us in despair, ” he said.
