JAMMU, Mar 29: Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a habitual drug trafficker and recovered heroin valuing Rs 4 lakh from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information about drugs smuggling, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking, as he was trying to hide himself from the cops.
During checking, police recovered 40 grams heroin valuing Rs 4 lakh from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Hussain Wani, son of Abdul Hussain Wani, a resident of Batpora, district Shopian, at present Bagh-e-Bahu Jammu.
It is assumed that the accused had brought the consignment from Kashmir for selling among the youth in Jammu city and surrounding areas. With his arrest, police achieved a success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
The accused was also arrested by a team of Police Station Kathua along with consignment of drugs and a case under NDPS Act stands registered against him.
A fresh case under FIR Number 73/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by SI Kali Charan arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Gupta and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
