Rana for 40 pc recruitment in IIT, IIM for locals

NAGROTA, Mar 30: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today sought 40 per cent share in the recruitment in various non-teaching support staff for the talented and enterprising local youth in the Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Management.
“Since the two prestigious institutes of professional learning are located in the constituency, the locals have a genuine stake and claim in the recruitments”, Rana said while undertaking tour of the Panjgarian area this afternoon.
He said the area has fairly good number of educated and talented youth besides skilled and unskilled workforce, which are needed to be considered for appointment as per their qualifications and requirements. “The locals have raised these institutions with their blood and sweat and they are legitimately the main stakeholders”, he said and hoped that the managements would consider their aspirations while making recruitments against various positions in the support staff.
Interacting with people during his visit, the MLA Nagrota appreciated the resilience and support of the people in making the constituency a most sought after destination for academic, sports and tourism activities. Being in close vicinity of the winter capital, the constituency offers vistas of opportunities in sports, tourism and housing sector, which is why every effort is being made to harness this potential optimally, he said, adding that he will knock every door to have the vision of people accomplished in making Nagrota a model constituency.
Referring to the headway achieved in imparting quality education by roping in Bharti Foundation under its Quality Support Programme, Rana said the first phase has been quite encouraging and productive. He said he will be endeavouring for its further outreach and extension to other areas. Similarly, he said health, rural development, power and other developmental sectors are being accorded focused attention.
He reiterated that development of the constituency remains top on his agenda and for achieving this, a concerted effort is being made to coordinate implementation of various projects with executing agencies. He said he is focused on the phased development of the constituency, hoping that people will continue to give him all important feedback on various projects and prioritise schemes for the constituency so that these are taken up with all concerned.
