JAMMU, Mar 30: All J&K Ambedkar Dalit Samaj Welfare Forum (ADSWF) today condemned the amendments in SC/ST Atrocities Act by the Supreme Court (SC).
In a meeting of the Forum held today here at Guru Ravi Dass Complex, Rajpura Mangotrian, the Dalit leaders criticized the Centre Government for not coming forward for the welfare of Dalit community in the wake of amendments in SC/ST Atrocities Act by SC.
They urged the Centre Government to abolish the new amendments in SC/ST Atrocities Act and also decided to support to Bharat Bandh call on April 2 against enactment of SC/ST Atrocities Act. The recent move of UP Government to add Ramji with the name of Dr BR Ambedkar was also criticized by the Dalit leaders.
The meeting also decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar on April 14 at Guru Ravi Dass Complex, Rajpura, Jammu. It was also decided in the meeting that they will approach Social Welfare Department for releasing scholarship to SC/ST students on priority, as the same is not being paid to them for last three years.
