DSS executive body discusses forthcoming events

JAMMU, Apr 3: The executive body of the Dogra Sadar Sabha met today under the chairmanship of  DSS president anf former Minister Th Gulchain Singh, here today  to take stock of the ongoing activities and chalk out the plans for the events scheduled for near future.
During the meeting, a DSS sub committee was formed to meet the Minister for Tourism  Tassaduq  Mufti and discuss the details, mechanism and funding of the next Jammu festival this year. All members were keen to have the Jammu Festival to promote and showcase the local Jammu art, Dogra culture, folk music and encourage local handicrafts, artists and artisans.
The Committee formed under the leadership of Th  Gulchain Singh Charak, comprises of G S  Jamwal, Prof  N  K  Dogra,  Col Karan Singh, Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, Vijay Kotwal and Gambhir Dev Singh Charak. It was resolved that the DSS will join to celebrate the function in a big way, in coordination with the official function.
The meeting endorsed the proposal of “Save the Birds Day” to be held on 5th of May as observed by the DSS every year and assigned its arrangement to a sub committee comprising of Col  Karan Singh Jamwal,  Amanat Ali Shah,  Peter,  Santosh Magotra,  Swarn Singh,  Chhankar Singh and Dr Raghubir Singh. The meeting decided that to maintain the sanctity of the newly established “Gallery of the Distinguished personalities” at the Dogra Hall, it may not be henceforth hired for marriages but will be available for hiring for academic purposes, seminars, meetings and similar dignified sober events.
It was also decided to reschedule the General Council meeting to 13th of May which had to be postponed on the request of some foreign members of the DSS International chapters.  Another Sub Committee was formed for this purpose under the vice president Col Karan Singh to include  G A  Khawaja,  Jadeep Singh,  Janak Khajuria, Prof  Anita Billawaria,  Sukhdev Singh and  Madan Bhagat.
The meeting was attended by Maj G  S  Jamwal (Retd), Major General Sunita Kapoor (Retd.), Vijay Kotwal, (IAS- Retd),   Amanat Ali Shah, Prof  N K Dogra, Col  Karan Singh Jamwal,  Prem Sagar Gupta, Col  Dr  Virendra K  Sahi,  G A  Khawaja and others.
