NPP protests BJP’s change of stance over Rohingyas issue

JAMMU, Apr 4:  Launching a scathing attack on the BJP for hoodwinking the people over the much awaited deportation of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis from Jammu region amid brewing public anger, a large number of NPP activists led by  party chairman Harsh Dev Singh  staged a  protest demonstration at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
The NPP protesters comprised the people of Jammu professing various religious faiths and beliefs including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians who in one voice sought early deportation of the said illegal immigrants. The leaders and the protesters accused Saffron Party of cheating the people of Jammu with regard to their eviction in order to keep the Kashmiri leaders in good humour.
While raising slogans of “Gaddar BJP, Hai Hai”, “Chh-orho Hamara Jammu Pradesh, Rohingyas Jaao Bangladesh”, ‘Rohingyas, Bangladeshis Go Back’, they torched the effigy of the BJP and sought repatriation of the illegally settled foreigners without any further delay.
Describing the Rohingyas as the biggest threat to the communal harmony and composite culture of Jammu,  Harsh Dev lambasted the criminal apathy of the Govt and lame duck posturing of BJP over the issue resulting in massive public outrage.  He said that despite proven criminal record of Rohingyas and their suspected role in terror attacks, the BJP partnered dispensation had not responded to the alarming situation which could vitiate peace in the ‘city of temples’.
Lambasting the Saffron Party for adopting resolution in its WC meeting recently regarding enquiry into the role of politicians in their illegal settlement in Jammu Pradesh, he said that such moves were made only for public consumption to divert attention of public. He said that the BJP Working Committee in its resolution on April 1 at Suchetgarh had recommended to the Govt to constitute a commission headed by a sitting High Court judge to inquire into the circumstances leading to their settlement. “What happened to the much trumpeted group of four Ministers (GoM) headed by Dy CM Nirmal Singh which was constituted last year in Feb 2017 to identify the unlawful immigrants for their deportation?” Having failed to give any output during the last 14 months and the Cabinet Sub Committee headed by Dy CM Nirmal Singh having proved a farce, the BJP was shamelessly talking of constitution of another commission headed by a High Court Judge to address the issue. He said BJP can’t befool the public by such gimmicks every time.
