REASI, Apr 4: As an 11 KV line fell on LT line causing short circuit, two shops were reduced to ashes while scores of l electrical appliances got damaged in Arnas habitation.
Agitated over alleged negligence of the Power Development Department, the affected people held a strong protest demonstration and blocked Arnas road. They were raising slogans against the PDD and demanding adequate compensation.
According to ex Sarpanch Raman Singh, the incident took place late last night when
11 KV line fell on LT line resulting into short circuit and burning of a transformer. Unaware of the incident, the PDD staff repaired the transformer and tried to restore the power supply due to which two shops got totally burnt and scores of electric appliances were damaged.
The burnt shops belonged to Parkash Singh son of Raghunath Singh of Garhi, presently putting up at Arnas and Mohd Maqbool son of Gh Rrasool of Arnas.
Infuriated over the alleged negligence of PDD staff, the locals held a strong protest demonstration in the morning and blocked the main road. They were also demanding action against the erring PDD officials.
Later, Tehsildar, DySP and PDD officers reached the spot and pacified the agitating people, who were assured necessary action on their demands.
