Education instrumental in development of Tribals: Zulfkar

POONCH, Apr 7: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumers Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali emphasized on the need to provide quality education and good infrastructure besides imparting good values and principles among the students.
The Minister said this while addressing the gathering at a function organized by Gujjar hostels and Gujjar Employees Association along with Tribal Youth Associations at Gujjar Hostel Poonch, today.
MLA Shah Mohammed Tantray was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister lauded the role of G&B hostels in helping students acquire quality education. ‘There are dreams and aspirations in the eyes of every child who comes to school and helping them fulfill their dreams should be our motive,’ he said.
He called upon hostel administration to explore further possibilities to usher the onerous task of future building of youth by imparting them quality education besides providing them a space where they can study.
The Minister said Government is adopting pragmatic approach to improve the socio economic condition of tribal population and various schemes have been launched to cater to their needs.
On the occasion, problems and issues of G&B hostel were also projected before the Minister including improvement/upgradation of infrastructure facilities in the hostel, increase in intake capacity of students in Gujjar and Bakarwal hostel in next academic year, among others.
Zulfkar taking note of the points raised said that these concerns will be looked into.
He also announced upgradation of education courses up to Graduation level in Girls hostel for Gujjar and Bakarwal.
Meanwhile, Ch Zulfkar Ali, convened a meeting to review the status of ongoing projects for tribal welfare including cluster tribal model villages, residential hostel for tribal girls, besides reviewing the implementation of tribal welfare schemes in the district.
Addressing the meeting the Minister underlined the importance of expediting tribal development projects and asked the officers to devise an effective mechanism for regular monitoring of these projects to ensure they adhere to the quality guidelines and set timelines.
He directed the executing agencies to ensure that there are no compromises made with standard specification for these upcoming model villages.
