JAMMU, Apr 9: A fire safety workshop was organized today at Super Speciality Hospital (SSH), Government Medical College Jammu where in presentation on fire safety was given.
Dr Deepak Kumar, Deputy Medical Superintendent initiated the workshop which was followed by presentation on fire safety by Esha Sharma, Senior Staff Nurse. It was followed by presentation on types and use of fire extinguishers by Shubam of J&J Enterprises.
Waryam Chand (Security Supervisor) apprised about practical aspects of fire fighting measures and in the last Dr Arun Sharma, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, informed about fire measures being taken in the hospital especially refilling of all 116 CO 2 fire extinguishers and functioning of external fire hydrants in the first phase.
“Further more fire extinguishers would be placed at various places of the hospital and in second phase internal hydrants and alarm system would also be checked”, he added.
Later demonstration on evacuation of patients was given by Waryam Chand. This was followed by demonstration of fire extinguishers and fire hydrants. Executive Engineer of Mechanical Division of GMC Jammu, AEE Mechanical and other officials were present on the occasion.
