JAMMU, Apr 12: A cataract surgery camp held at SDH Akhnoor in the loving memory of Ved Pal Saraf, founder member and patron of VCT concluded here today.
In this camp, more than 200 eye patients were checked up and treated. Out of which 42 cataract patients have been operated with intraocular lens. Senior eye surgeons of Health Department. Dr. Ghansham(MS) and Dr. Kamal Gupta (MS) provided their precious services to the cataract patients.
At the time of conclusion, chief guest Dr Anil Sharma, Block Medical Officer Akhnoor provided post operational medicines, anti-biotics, pain relievers, multivitamins and spectacles to all the operated patients. Free lodging, and boarding was also catered to the patients and their attendants.
BMO Akhnoor also honoured eye surgeons and staff with ‘Commendable Services Award.’BMO Akhnoor and the staff rendered all possible help to make this camp a thumping success.
Viklang Chhatra Trust so far by organizing 128 free eye operation camps in the remote areas of Jammu province, has successfully operated more than 8000 cataract patients groping in the dark due to cataract, with the services of qualified eye surgeons of GMC Jammu and Health Department at their door steps even without getting any financial support from any Government.
VCT from the past few years has been organizing weekly cataract surgery programmes at SDH Akhnoor for poor cataract patients of the remotest of areas.
