JAMMU, Apr 14: Arnia police arrested two thieves and recovered stolen pigeons worth Rs 90,000 from their possession.
As per police sources, on April 6 this year, a complaint was lodged by Vijay Kumar, son of Natha Ram of village Kothey Kalyana with Police Station Arnia stating that some unknown persons have stolen 40 pigeons worth Rs 90,000, which he had kept in ‘Kabootar Khana’ at his house’s roof top.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 16/18 under Section 457 and 380 RPC was registered at Police Station Arnia and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, several suspects were rounded up and out of them, who suspects broke down and confessed that they had stolen the pigeons.
Police arrested both the thieves, who have been identified as Jasvir Singh alias Gaaro, son of Omkar Singh and Sunil Kumar alias Billa, son of Nikka Ram, both residents of village Kalyana.
On their disclosure, 40 stolen pigeons valuing Rs 90,000 were recovered.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Arnia Inspector Deepak Pathania made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Sourabh Prashar and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
Police has advised the general public not to indulge in betting with pigeons failing which action as warranted under law will be taken against the culprits.
