Thousands throng Dera Nangali Sahib on Baisakhi

POONCH/JAMMU, Apr 14:  In connection with the Baisakhi and  birth anniversary of the Khalsa Panth, thousands of devotees from all walks of life today thronged Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch and offered special prayers.
A large number of people from various villages  and towns of Poonch and Rajouri,  Jammu region and parts of Kashmir besides  Punjab and other states and even Nepal,  visited the holy shrine of Nangali Sahib in Poonch   and offered special prayers. Head priest of the  Dera,  Mahant Manjit Singh delivered spiritual   discourse. Some other religious persons from outside also recited Shabd Kirtan.

Gurdawara was highly decorated and since yesterday the people in large number started arrived the Dera. A grand community langar was arranged for the devotees by the Management Committee. MLA Poonch Shah Mohd Tantray, MLC Yash Pal Sharma,  SSP  Rajiv Pandey and DC Aijaz Ahmed also visited the shrine.
Meanwhile,  DGPC Jammu organized functions in connection with birth anniversary of  Khalsa Panth in various Gurdwaras of Jammu. The main function in this connection was held at Gurdwara Talab Tillo, Jammu. A large number of devotes attended the programme.
Prominent Sikh preacher Giani Baldev Singh of Ponta Sahib threw light on the importance of this day and said that on April 13, 1699, Guru Gobind Singh ji had laid foundation of  Khalsa Panth and declared  revolutionary beginning.  Various DGPC members attended the programme.  On this occasion a resolution was also passed projecting various demands including setting up of Minority Commission, promotion of Punjabi language, Guru Gobind Singh Ji chair at JU, settlement of refugees issue, stop discrimination with Kashmir based Sikhs, Make Ansari Commission report public  and implementation of Anand Marriage Act in State.
