Refer news item, ‘CM announces new law to make death penalty mandatory’ DE April 13.
There is need to have a strong law to deal with rapists in the country. After Nirbhaya episode there was clamour for death penalty for rapists, but there was no consensus among the law makers on the issue. Keeping in view the increasing incidents of rape in the country, it is need of the hour that death penalty be awarded to those who commit this heinous crime.
Now, when the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has announced to bring in the Legislation in this context, it should be whole-heartedly supported by law makers of the State. Hope there is no dilly-dallying on the issue that concerns one and all.
