CS reviews NRHM implementation

Excelsior Correspondent Jammu, Dec 10: Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, today highlighted the importance of utilising IT enabled technology to further improve service delivery and monitoring in healthcare under NRHM flagship programme in Jammu and Kashmir. He called on the Health Department to work out a proposal for placing real time online information and data network across all health centres for better and timely monitoring of all activities under NRHM. Chairing the Governing Body meeting to review the implementation of NRHM in the State here, the Chief Secretary noted that computerisation of hospital records and real time availability of health data will result in huge improvement in health care delivery in rural areas. He said that mobile sets could be utilised to feed and receive real time data in remote rural areas and proposal to this effect should be worked out taking latest technology into consideration. Mission Director NRHM, Dr Yashpal Sharma informed the meeting that 133 delivery points are functional in the State and as many as 100 additional delivery points are targeted to be made functional during current fiscal. Chief Secretary directed to ensure that additional delivery points are fully functional within the stipulated time frame. He called for strengthening delivery points by rationalisation of staff engaged under NRHM and their skill upgradation through training and providing additional manpower where ever necessary. Several awareness camps across 116 blocks were conducted to make Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committees, PRIs, NGOs and villagers aware about community monitoring and other activities under NRHM, Mission Director informed the meeting. He said that Rs 182 lakh has been approved for computerisation of hospital records during current fiscal. He also informed that out of the 198 Doctors on unauthorized absence, notices have been served to 127 Doctors, 52 Doctors have been terminated and 12 have been allowed to rejoin while 7 Doctors have resigned. The Governing Body also discussed matters pertaining to community monitoring, release of state-share under NRHM, status of health infrastructure under NRHM and various other initiatives.
