Excelsior Correspondent MENDHAR, Dec 10: The members of a marriage party were allegedly detained for hours together by Armymen near the fencing in forward Balakote area of tehsil Mendhar today. Reports said a marriage party from Balakote was on way to Dhabi hamlet of Balakote ahead of fencing near the Line of Control. About fifty odd members of the party, with bridegroom- Shahid Ahmed Khan, son of Mohd Sadiq Khan (HC in Police), were moving towards bride’s village located on that side of the fencing. As they reached near the gate at the fencing, the Armymen deployed in the area stopped them and did not allow to move further due to security reasons. Some of the `Baratis’ even produced their I-cards issued by the competent authority but the Soldiers and Junior officers deployed the area did not open the gate and the ‘baratis’ remained detained there for 4-5 hours. Later, with the intervention of local police officers, the marriage party was allowed to proceed further at around 3 pm.
