World Earth Day celebrated with fervour

JAMMU, Apr 21: Various educational institutions celebrated World Earth Day with enthusiasm and fervour.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College RS Pura under the supervision of NSS Programme Officer Dr Namita Singh, Advisory Committee Convener Prof Jaipal Singh and Principal Prof Kalpana Kesar celebrated Earth Day. NSS volunteers painted charts depicting reasons and ways to protest the environment followed by cleanliness drive and planting of flower pots.
APS Jammu Cantt celebrated World Earth Day with the theme “End Plastic Pollution”. The day started with a special assembly wherein the school choir presented a mellifluous song to mark World Earth Day. The chief guest for the occasion was Ashutosh Sharma, Director General and CEO of ICDRC. Various activities were conducted for the students. Principal Ratna Mallick was also present on the occasion.
To commemorate World Earth Day, Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu organized “Fabric Painting” activity. In the activity, some of the students namely Sushant, Priyanaka, Aryan, Anshika and Bhuvnesh performed extremely well. Vice Chairperson Rohini Aima was also present on the occasion.
On the occasion of the Earth Day, special functions were held at Kartar Public School. Inter-house cursive, calligraphic and creative writing, poster making and slogan writing competitions were held. Harpreet Kaur, Secretary-cum-Principal of the school supervised the “Earth Day” celebrations. On the occasion, prizes were given away to the winning teams in different streams. Kaveri House was the overall winner, Howrah House was the first runner up and the second runner up was Pir Panjal house.
To mark the day, Shubh Memorial International School Akhnoor organised a “Nature Walk” for the students. An awareness rally was also held by the staff and students. The rally was taken out under the leadership of administrator and school Principal Shilpa Mahajan.
Jammu Sanskriti School Kathua celebrated World Earth Day, by organizing essay writing, poster and slogan making competitions and colouring activities. Students also shared their views on this beautiful occasion. Principal Shuchita Gupta also shared her beautiful and precious views on Earth Day.
World Earth Day was celebrated in Stephens Public School. A special assembly was conducted on this special day. A Go-Green activity was exhibited by the students, followed by nukkad natak. Director of the School Satvinder Saini, Principal Manoj Kumar Agnihotri, Dean Academics Rama Jamwal and many others were present on the occasion.
Students of Daffodils Care Convent Play School, Jain Bazaar celebrated World Earth Day. On the occasion, students showed their concern for Mother Earth through various presentations. Principal Shikha Puri expressed views on the importance of the day. Children also enacted a short play.
Shri Ram Universal School celebrated the Earth Day as “Shri Dharni” by planting hundreds of saplings in the campus. A myriad of educational messages, role plays and fun activities were organized for parents and students. A special assembly by the students of form-5 marked the event.
Students and staff of Dewan Devi Playway and Higher Secondary School celebrated World Earth Day. Kindergarten students were involved in different activities depicting Earth Day in their scrap books. The tiny tots planted saplings in the school premises. Principal Seloni Anand highlighted the importance of the day.
To observe World Earth Day, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) staged musical play “Sadi Dharti” in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production. The programe was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr AC Bhagat, Former Chief Officer, Department of Animal Husbandry, in presence of VK Magotra, Former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, RP Amla, Event Director and Dr Anju Dogra from J&K Heath Department. The play was written, produced and directed by ML Dogra, Chairman, BLSKS.
