Police arrests 4 gamblers

SRINAGAR, Apr 22: Police arrested four gamblers in Magam area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district today.
A Police spokesman said that after acting on a specific information, Budgam Police raided a gambling site at Buddibagh, Magam and apprehended four gamblers identified as Abdul Majeed, Ishaq Rather, Ishfaq Rasool and Vilayet Wani, all residents of Buddibagh, Magam.
He said a stake money of Rs.2050 and playing cards were also recovered from the gambling site and accordingly, a case FIR 51/2018 under Section 13 Gambling Act was registered in Police Station Magam.
“The accused were challaned in Magam court, convicted and sentenced for 14 days imprisonment by Judicial Magistrate Magam. The residents of the area hailed the swift crime control efforts of police,” he said.
