JAMMU, Dec 11: A youth was killed in collision between a truck and Qualis vehicle near Vijapur in Samba while four members of a family were among eight people injured in separate road accidents in the region today.
Reports said a Qualis bearing registration No. PB06E/7457 which was on way to Hiranagar from Jammu met head- on -collision with a truck No. JK02AE/8626 coming from the opposite direction at Barian near Vijaypur at around 8 pm today. The driver of the Qualis was killed on the spot. His body was shifted to Vijaypur hospital.
The deceased was identified as Narinder Kumar Sharma (25), son of K C Sharma, resident of Ward No. 3 Hiranagar. His body was shifted by police to the mortuary of Vijaypur hospital. The truck driver and cleaner also suffered minor injuries in the mishap while a Mauri car also suffered minor damage in the collision. But all the three occupants escaped unhurt. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
A Police spokesman said that four members of a family namely Ashwani Kumar, son of Girdhari Lal, his wife Sonia, son, Aryan and daughter, residents of Rajpura in Jammu were injured, when their motorcycle collided with a car at Dream City, Barnai.
All the injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where their condition was stated to be stable. Domana Police registered case for investigation.
Meanwhile, Shubam Sharma, son of Rattan Lal and Arun Sharma, son of Joginder Kumar, both residents of Patoli got injured when their bike got slipped in same locality today.
The duo was shifted to Government Medical College, Hospital. One Rattan Lal, son of Sita Ram of Laddan, district Udhampur was injured, when his motorcycle collided with an ambulance near Air Force Station.
He was shifted to District Hospital, Udhampur for treatment. A case has been registered by police in this connection.
In yet another incident, occupants of Alto car (JK02L 5671) had a narrow escape, when a truck (JK03-5671) on its way to Srinagar from Jammu hit the car and it turned turtle at Vikram Bridge, in Udhampur. An Army jawan who was performing his duty near the bridge got injured in the mishap. He was shifted to Military Hospital.
Due to collision, the vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway also remained suspended for about three hours.
