JAMMU, Dec 12: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan has been suspended by the authorities after his INSAS rifle along with 5 magazines and 100 rounds went missing from the base camp of 166 battalion of CRPF, headquartered at Maheshpura in Bakshi Nagar.
“A store man with CRPF namely D K Sahai has been suspended by the authorities after his INSAS rifle, five magazines and 100 rounds went missing from the base camp of 166 Battalion last evening at Maheshpura in Bakshi Nagar area,” official sources said.
Sources said the CRPF personnel had kept his service riffle in the barrack and went to duty with the service rifle (AK-47) of his colleague, Raj Narayan.
“His service rifle INSAS was missing when the jawan returned to his barrack,” they added.
A case has been registered at Bakshi Nagar police station against him and manhunt is launched to apprehend the person who fled away with the weapon.
