JAMMU, Apr 26: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today kick started blacktopping works on 600-metre-long stretch from Trikuta Nagar to Uchi Pulli Nanak Nagar here.
While addressing the gathering, the Speaker said that in coming days, a massive programme of blacktopping works is being started in Trikuta Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Digiana, Sunjay Nagar, Gangyal and other adjoining areas of Gandhi Nagar involving cost of Rs 2.5 crore to provide better road connectivity to the people.
Meanwhile, the locals apprised the Speaker about their demands related to upgradation and repair of lanes and drains, installation of street lights, adequate drinking water and power supply.
The Speaker assured the people that all their genuine demands would be looked into on priority basis.
Later, the Speaker also inaugurated newly constructed three additional classrooms building at Government High School, Digiana. The project has been completed under SSA/RMSA at an estimated cost of Rs 13.33 lakh.
The Speaker said the Government is committed to provide better infrastructure in the Government schools so that the students studying in these institutions get better studying atmosphere. The school administration also highlighted their demands regarding construction of Examination Hall and new desks for the students.
The Speaker assured that the demands projected by the school authority would be redressed as early as possible. He gave necessary directions to the concerned authorities to prepare a DPR in this regard so that the work of the project would be started and funds are arranged accordingly.
Among others, Executive Engineer, SSA/RMSA Paramjeet Singh, AEE, R&B Sanjeev Gupta, SSA/RMSA, Anil Kumar, Ex Corporator, Paramjit Singh, senior leaders, Baldev Blowria, Kulwant Singh Bhatti and Harbans Choudhary were also present on the occasion.
