UDHAMPUR, Apr 27: Fulfilling a long pending demand of residents of Phangial-Meldi area, MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta today kick-started the macadamisation work of badly damaged two kilometer long Meldi to Phangial road.
On this occasion, local said that the blacktopping of this road was done about 18 years ago by then MLA Udhampur Lt Lala Shiv Charan Gupta. The present status of this road was such that the vehicles could not ply on this due to extremely bad condition of the road surface. It was too difficult to even walk on this road.
According to the villagers, they met the MLA Udhampur for macadamisation and blacktopping of the road and he promised to do the same.
On this occasion, locals also highlighted some other demands, such as construction of pond and other works. In this connection MLA instructed BDO concerned to resolve the issue at an earliest.
