SRINAGAR, Apr 29: A Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader was shot at by militants in Allochibagh area of Srinagar city this evening while a group of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants today gave slip to security forces in Tral forests of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district but security forces busted their hideout.
A Police official said that militants fired upon Zubair Majeed Parray, 30, son of Abdul Majeed Parray at around 8:35 pm in Alochibagh area at point-blank on his crockery shop. He has received multiple bullet injuries.
Parray was shifted to SMHS Hospital in critical condition. Parray had left police training mid-way few years back. He was associated with BJP and had participated in the election campaign in 2014 Assembly polls.
A massive manhunt has been launched against the militants who attacked Parray.
A police spokesman said that the unknown gunmen fired upon a civilian Zubair Ahmad Parray at Allochibagh. “In the incident, Parray sustained injuries and shifted to the hospital”, the spokesman said.
And Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) today got information about presence of atleast four JeM militants in a forest hideout in Panzoo area of Tral. As the security forces reached the area, the militants who were keeping an eye on their movement fled on seeing the Army.
However, Army bused their hideout .They recovered some eatables and blankets. They also recovered some utensils and other items but no arms and ammunition were found. Sources said that the militants fled along with their arms and ammunition on seeing the Army.
And in Kiloora area of Zainapora in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, Army’s 34 RR fired several rounds in area after seeing suspicious movement of militants. They had information about presence of militants in the orchards of the village. However, militants didn’t respond to the Army probing shots and fled away.
The Army later cordoned off orchards of the village and carried out searches but the operation was called off after no militants were found.
Police arrested four persons from Karimabad area of Pulwama district who are instigating and actively involved in the stone pelting especially during the security forces’ anti-militancy operations.
Sources said that police raided the village last night and arrested four youth in anti-state activities. Those arrested were identified as Javaid Ahmed Rather, Yawar Ahmed Sheikh, Faisal Tiger and Bilal Ahmed Ganie.
Sources said that these youth are involved in majority of the stone pelting incidents in the area and police was after them for a long time.
Jammu and Kashmir Police in the meantime carried out searches simultaneously at four places in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
“Pursuing leads in the investigation of a case pertaining to subversive activities, police after obtaining search warrants from the competent court carried out searches at four places simultaneously in Budgam district,” said a spokesman, in a statement.
“During searches, incriminating material including laptop, tablet, smart phones, documents, letters, bank pass books, cash books, video camera and cassettes were seized,” he said.
All legal formalities have been fulfilled in presence of magistrate and independent witnesses.
