National Road Safety Week concludes

JAMMU, Apr 30: 29th National Road Safety Week 2018, which was inaugurated by Minister for Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma on April 23, culminated today at Police Auditorium.
During the week long programme, a number of events were organized by Motor Vehicles Department on the theme of this year “SADAK SURKASHA-JEEVAN RAKSHA”. The programmes included Walkathon, Medical Health Check-up, Blood Donation Camp, Painting Competition at Kalakendra, Helmet Rally, Poster Design Competition at Wave Mall and Cycle Rally from the University of Jammu here.
Dr V S Santhil Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forest was the chief guest on the occasion of the award ceremony. The cultural programme by Ramaloo Ram, Dogri Folk Singer and party was performed on the mission of Road Safety which enthralled the audience. Mohinder Kumar from Information Department had also composed the cultural song on the Road Safety and performed with his group. A documentary on the Road Safety prepared by Maruti Driving School Jammu was also played in the programme to make people aware of Road Safety.
Vikas Sharma, Joint Transport Commissioner, presented a welcome address. Dr V S Santhil Kumar stressed upon all to inculcate the habit of good driving skills in our daily life to be secure and safe. He asked the young students and parents to take mission of Road Safety Week further and take every day as Road Safety Day. He also distributed awards in different categories among the students and other dignitaries who excelled in different events organised by Department and supported the cause of Road Safety actively.

The prominent among others, who were present in the ceremony, included Mohinder Singh, Additional Transport Commissioner J&K, Rakesh Sarangal, Director School Education Jammu. Mir Afroz, Managing Director SRTC, R K Bhat Additional Secretary State Road Safety Council, Naresh Kumar, Joint Director Information, Dr Chander Prakash, Deputy Director Health Services, Sunaina Mehta, Secretary Municipal Corporation Jammu, ARTO Rajesh Gupta and other staff members.
