JAMMU, May 4: A large quantity of scrap kept in a plot near Wave Mall damaged in fire this afternoon.
As per police sources, fire broke out in the scrap including tyres, old cars, etc kept in open plot near Wave Mall due to breakage of the electric pole. The plot belongs to Ashwani Kumar, son of Bodh Raj, a resident of Channi Rama.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and informed the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
On receiving information, fire fighters along with tenders rushed to the spot and started operation to douse the flames.
After hectic efforts of around one hour, the fire was brought under control. Five fire tenders including 4 from Gandhi Nagar Fire Station and one from Gangyal Fire Station were pressed to douse the flames.
The entire fire fighting operation was supervised by Director Fire Services R T Dubey and Deputy Director Command Jammu R C Raina.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
